2 new mailboxes from DWR.

The cylindrical Cadrona Mailbox is divided into two compartments: The top half is an easy-access dock for newspapers while the bottom compartment keeps letters and small packages hidden and protected. The lower compartment is accessed by lifting the top. The red powder coating applied over its galvanized steel body helps ensure complete rust protection from the elements, but we also like how it serves as a marker for a residence. This mailbox holds A4-size mail and small parcels. — from DWR

Designer
Frank Samuels
Designer Frank Samuels created his Premier Mailbox (2006) in response to customer requests for modern, yet functional, mailboxes. Drawing on his experience in the New Zealand architecture and landscaping scene, Samuels created a mailbox that’s simple and understated, but also smartly made. Ready to stand up to anything Mother Nature (and the postman) can deliver, the durable and weatherproof design is crafted of stainless steel and cedar plywood that’s protected with three coats UV-protective sealer. The front slot accepts up to A4-size mail. Small parcels can be delivered by lifting the back panel, which is also how mail is retrieved. Secured with a non-locking quick latch. Support post not included.– from DWR

It’s like half planter half boat.

This is the most striking piece in the collection. Designed by John Follis, this planter comes with an oiled walnut base. It would look amazing along an entryway wall..or a large counter. Simply amazing and our favorite. — from Velocity Art and Design.

Although the idea of a DWR branded trailer creeps me out a bit, the idea of a good looking/well designed trailer does not. In comes the newish Airstream Bambi. A few photos below, but Inhabitat has the details.

I’d camp everyday with this thing. Well, like 6 months out of the year. I guess like once a year.

Airstream Bambi
Airstream Bambi Interior

Airstream Inc. commemorates its 75th Anniversary with a stylish, modernistic take on old-fashioned luxury. The 75th Commemorative Edition Travel Trailer combines ultra-refined, polished aluminum interiors with rich, natural materials such as warm wood veneers materials and details which pay homage to founder Wally Byam’s original designs.
Designer David Winick took the lead in creating an interior space that is both ultra modern and retrospective. Natural linoleum in warm tones brings out the highlights of genuine wood veneers. Upholstery inspired by 1940’s tailoring heightens textural contrasts, reflecting in an array of aluminum surfaces. Porthole windows, round vents and yacht-inspired details further integrate the past and future in this very special travel trailer.
Winick came to Airstream with an example of a re-modeled Airstream, demonstrating an understanding of the Airstream design aesthetic and a keenly developed vision for harmonizing natural materials with Airstream’s unique interior space. — from Airstream

Richard Schultz 1966

I designed the collection in 1966 at the request of Florence Knoll, who wanted well-designed outdoor furnishings that would withstand the corrosive salt air at her home in Florida. Through the years, the 1966 Collection has earned a special place in the world of outdoor furniture. — from Richard Schultz avail at Clima Outdoor.

DWR House Numbers

Based on the iconic lettering that midcentury architect Richard Neutra specified for use on his buildings in the 1930’s - 1950’s, this complete set of stainless steel house numbers was produced through collaboration with son Dion Neutra and an independent type foundry. Precision crafted by a 50-year-old metal fabrication shop, each number weighs half a pound and installs on flat surfaces without visible hardware. Designed to float slightly above the wall surface and cast subtle shadows, the numbers are always clearly visible.

Overture House

Ginger Finley, 2003

Elegant, clean and modern, these house numbers do their job beautifully and still get the pizza guy to the right place. Crafted of architectural grade stainless steel, they stand 5″ tall and attach cleanly with wall anchors from the back, leaving no ugly screws to mar their appearance, and creating dimensionality as the numbers stand 3/8″ off the wall.
